Falls Soccer club offers travel teams for U9 (2015 birth year) thru U18 (2006 birth year)

We are ALWAYS forming new teams in all age groups, so if you don't see your age group listed in the 'Existing Teams", that doesn't mean there's no team for you! Please contact Travel Director Chris Scott travedirector@fallssoccerclub.com if you have any questions at all, especially about your specific age group!

Intramural soccer is all about learning the game, having fun, and getting exercise. Ability is not a factor, and FSC welcomes all interested players to join. All players who register for Intramural (on-time) will be assigned to a team and will receive equal playing time. Additionally, Intramural teams are coached by parent volunteers.

By comparison, Travel soccer is a competitive program and player development is of the utmost importance. All players are welcome to attend try-outs, but not all will be invited to join a team. Once invited to join, playing time is not guaranteed. Lastly, all players assigned to a travel team are still required to attend tryouts on a yearly basis.

Tryouts are held every spring in April. Each team (and potential new team) will hold a minimum of two tryout sessions. All interested players are welcomed and encouraged to attend both sessions which will be ran like a typical practice. Philadelphia Union coaches and team managers will run the tryout session. Players can expect to demonstrate their speed both with and without a ball, ball control, foot skills, and their overall understanding of the game. All Players will be notified within two weeks of the final tryout session as to whether they have been offered a spot on a team or not. Each Coach will also provide an assessment to any child who is not offered a spot, so those players and parents know which area(s) to focus on improving.

Roster sizes vary by team age:
7v7 – 12 players (max through U10)
9v9 – 16 players (max through U12)
11v11 – 18 players (max through U13)
11v11 – 22 players (max through U18. Only 18 can dress per game.)

Playing time and development are linked together so we try not to overload our roster sizes.

To be successful in the FSC Travel Program, players should show a higher level of ability/skill, and families should also recognize the greater commitment involved. This includes but is not limited to attendance at practices, games, and tournaments, as well as other club events. Further, with travel soccer, there is also a greater financial commitment.

Travel soccer fees vary depending on the team and includes both Fall and Spring season. This general registration cost covers player and league fees, referee fees, professional trainer fees, and other facility maintenance needs.

However, registration does not cover tournament fees or indoor leagues. Each team will either collect additional money throughout the year from parents or will fundraise to cover any additional costs.

Uniforms for travel players are also approximately $180-200 which include both a home and away kit as well as a training jersey. Teams may also elect to purchase additional items such as bags, warm-ups, etc.

• Travel soccer is a year-round sport. Players can expect to play in Fall, Winter, and Spring Leagues as well as tournaments throughout the year.
• FSC registration covers only Fall and Spring league registration fees and additional leagues/tournaments/training will be at the discretion of each team’s head coach (with oversight from the Travel Director).
• Players are required to attend pre season soccer camp coached by the Philadelphia Union
• Teams will generally practice at least twice per week for 1.5-2 hours per session.
• Games are typically held on Saturdays and Sundays. Regular season games are generally within an hour of Falls Soccer Club though on occasion teams may be required to travel further.
• Coaches understand that children play other sports; however, it is expected that the player's primary commitment is to their travel team.
• Children who play other sports are encouraged to work with their travel soccer coach to ensure the commitment to their team remains in-tact whilst still participating in other sports/activities.
• FSC expects parents/guardians to be supportive of their child and the club by adhering to the travel and code of conduct policies.
